JAMES FENNESEY

Lacrosse Performance Coach

My name is James Fennessy, I will be introducing myself to your children as coach Fen. A little background about myself, this will be my 9th season coaching and my 20th season as a player. I didn’t start playing lacrosse until I was in 4th grade when I transferred from St. Patricks elementary school to Yorktown. At Yorktown I played both Football and Lacrosse. On top of winning a state championship (‘14) with the Cornhuskers, lacrosse had offered me the opportunity to play at the college level and create some of the best friendships.  I attended The College of Saint Rose located in Albany, NY. As a Golden Knight I was a 3 year starter and was a captain my Junior and Senior season. Sadly the School has closed down but I am honored to have been a part of that program.  After my graduation I have played for a variety of teams in multiple leagues. Currently I’m playing in the NABLL for the Long Island Sharks. But my main focus and involvement is playing for Irelands National Team both for box and field. I have been apart of the program now for 4 years, I have played in Two world tournaments across Europe and North America.

I have worked with athletes from youth to college, coaching football and track at the private level, and interning with top programs like Yale University—where I focused on speed and agility with football—and Quinnipiac University, where I have worked with women’s rugby, lacrosse, softball, and baseball. I also had the opportunity to publish a research study with the Quinnipiac baseball team.
My goal is simple: help athletes move better, get faster, and perform at their best—whether that’s on the field, or in the weight room, all the while working to apply scientific and data driven work for enhanced development.
